Mineral Insulated (M.I.) Cable

Proven Roof Deicing Product

Delta Therm patented M.I. roof deicing cable assemblies have been U.L. Listed since the 1970's. When we work together you'll have our 40+ years of experience to help you design a system that meets your performance expectations.

No More Leaky Junction Boxes

We can help you keep moisture out of your system. Our patented M.I. cable termination allows us to customize the cold lead length at the factory to help you reach an indoor junction box. This eliminates splicing on extension wire in outdoor junction boxes that can leak over time.

Install Safely on a Variety of Roof Materials

UL and CSA have tested and confirmed that you can safely install M.I. roof deicing cable assemblies on asphalt, standing metal, rubber membrane, slate, glass, Spanish tile etc. We stock two clips that can be used on most common roof materials and we have a variety of custom clips available for slate, spanish tile, and specialty roofing materials.

  • You can operate your M.I. roof deicing cable assembly at 12 VAC up to 480 VAC.
  • M.I. cable is annealed to remove brittleness and you will find it easy to bend the cable and hold it in place to attach it to your roof.
  • The extruded high density polyethylene overjacket will protect your cable against corrosive chemicals and will physically protects your cable from damage during installation.
  • Your Delta-Therm M.I. roof deicing cable assembly is factory built, moisture proofed, and quality tested before shipping. It will arrive on site ready to install right out of the box.
  • Based on the information you provide we will customize your heat output between 8-12 watts per lineal foot.
  • M.I. cable is made of all inorganic materials and it will not degrade.
  • According to ASHRAE and the U.S.D.O.E. electric resistance heating elements operate at near 100% efficiency. This system turn on at its fully rated wattage output and is very more efficient when installed on automatic controls and customized to your precise heat output.
  • There is only one moving part in your roof deicing system. The spring loaded switch in your contactor panel should be periodically checked for corrosion. You should also check that the moisture sensor is clean before the start of the winter season and gutters are clear of leaves.
